The psoas is much more than a hip flexor. Connecting the lumbar spine to the femur, it plays an important role in hip movement, spinal organization, posture, and the relationship between the legs and trunk.
In this 90-minute workshop, we’ll explore how the psoas works with, and sometimes in opposition to, the gluteal muscles during hip flexion and extension. We’ll also examine the classic anterior crossed syndrome model and how habitual patterns of hip flexor dominance, reduced gluteal contribution, and pelvic position can influence the way we stand and move.
Using the Cadillac Trapeze Table, Barrels, mat exercises, breathing, and light resistance, we’ll explore supported psoas lengthening, hip extension, gluteal activation, and strengthening through usable ranges of motion.
Rather than simply trying to “release a tight psoas,” you’ll learn how to create a more balanced relationship between the hips, pelvis, spine, and breath.
