GYROKINESIS® LEVEL I TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM
This program teaches students to conduct both of the classes in the Gyrokinesis level 1 curriculum- the Gyrokinesis level 1, format 1 class, and the Gyrokinesis level 1, format 2 class. The 138 hour program is composed of four sequential courses. Students typically begin teaching the Gyrokinesis method in the role of Apprentice within 3-6 months after beginning the program. It typically takes 12 to 18 months to complete the full program and become a Gyrokinesis Trainer.
Those who successfully complete the program are qualified to teach the Gyrokinesis level 1 exercise curriculum in the role of Certified Gyrokinesis Level 1 Trainer. Certified Gyrokinesis Trainers are eligible to enroll in Gyrokinesis Specialized Courses.
The Gyrokinesis Level I Teacher Training Program begins with the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Pre-Training Course, which is designed to give you an understanding of the Gyrokinesis Level I exercises, & prepare you physically for the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Foundation Course that follows. The Gyrokinesis Level 1 Foundation Course expands on the lessons in the Pre-Training Course, and is also where students learn the teaching skills & techniques specific to the Gyrokinesis method. The Gyrokinesis Level 1 Apprenticeship period follows. During this period, which can last up to one year, Apprentices receive a trademark license allowing them to teach Gyrokinesis level I exercises in the role of Gyrokinesis Apprentice. Apprentices are required to teach a minimum of 30 Gyrokinesis classes & to attend a Supervised Apprenticeship Course with a Gyrokinesis Master Trainer during their apprenticeship period.
The program ends with the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Final Certificate Course. Those who successfully complete this course, by demonstrating a competent understanding of the Gyrokinesis level I course curriculum, are issued a Gyrokinesis Trainer certification and a trademark use license allowing them to teach the Gyrokinesis level I exercises in the role of Gyrokinesis Trainer. Pink Ribbon Program for Rehabilitation and Exercises Professionals Certification Program
The Pink Ribbon Program certification program provides a solid background in both what the client's experience with being diagnosed with breast cancer is like, common surgical procedures and treatments for breast cancer, the effects the procedures and treatments have on survivors, and how to enhance the client's recovery using a system of Pilates-based exercises.
There is usually a mix of Pilates instructors, physical and occupational therapists, and oncology nurses in attendance. The workshop is two days long with a lunch break each day. Five hours of the workshop is spent on medical background, on staging (cancer is diagnosed in stages 0 to 4), and on the different kinds of surgery. After students have a firm grasp on what treatment for breast cancer is like, the workshop then reviews the rehabilitative exercise program and how to segue to regular fitness. The exercise rehab program is based on Pilates.
At least some experience with Pilates is recommended, at minimum a personal Pilates practice. If you are an exercise/rehab professional and wish to attend this certification, but do not have any experience with Pilates, please contact the SOMA Movement Studio and we can help guide you in how to best prepare for the certification. If you have been trained as a Pilates instructor, wonderful. All brands of Pilates instructor training will prepare you equally well for the Pink Ribbon Program certification program. Click here for the Pink Ribbon Program website for more details including an itinerary of the certification workshop.
